The Time-Of-Flight Diffraction (TOFD) method of ultrasonic testing operates on a different principle than conventional UT and as a result can provide information that may not be as readily attainable using other methods. Especially useful for evaluating corrosion ditching at weld toes during pipeline direct assessment activities.
