CONVENTIONAL
NONDESTRUCTIVE TESTING

Conventional nondestructive inspection (NDI) is regularly prescribed to: gather data, investigate damage, ensure compliance with codes and standards and confirm essential elements of the engineering design.

Visual Testing is used to detect any visual surface flaws.
Magnetic Particle Testing detects flaws/cracks on or near the surface in most ferromagnetic materials.
Liquid Penetrant NDT testing is used to locate discontinuities open to the test surface.

Conventional nondestructive testing includes Radiographic Testing using conventional film (RT), Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Visual Testing (VT), Eddy Current Testing (ECT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Leak testing (LT) and Ultrasonic Thickness Testing (UTT). These methods are used as both primary and supporting methods for Code compliance as well as structural integrity examinations. XCEL has extensive experience and expertise in the administration of conventional NDT.
